In the Studio with Parks Sadler
Upcoming Artist in Residence

Parks Sadler is a London-based artist originally from North Carolina. He earned an MA in Contemporary Photography from Central Saint Martins in 2023. His academic journey also includes studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, Poland. Recent exhibitions of his work include Maximillian Wölfgang Gallery, the Courtauld Institute of Art’s 2023 East Wing Biennial, and The Museum of the Home’s Queeriosities Art Fair.
Sadler’s practice revolves around the concept of the “active archive”, engaging with materials imbued with personal and collective histories. Through sculpture, photography, and printmaking, he creates works that investigate the processes of remembering and the unfolding of queer identity. His projects often explore themes of romance and heartbreak, sex and trauma, light and darkness.
He reflects, “I find it challenging to separate artmaking from my everyday life. This intertwining often leads to a tension that emerges at the expense of either life or art. This is why I describe my practice as an ‘active archive.'”
