The Power of Colour by Artfeed
Artfeed is excited to present, The Power of Colour, an exhibition showcasing and celebrating an exciting group of contemporary artists who use colour in their works to amongst other things, evoke emotions and to tell stories.
The Power of Colour is an exploration into the profound influence that colour exerts on our emotions, perceptions, and understanding of the world. This collective body of works delves into the ways in which artists: David Iain Brown, Reinhard Agyekum, Sophie Anne Wyth and Aimilios Metaxas, harness the vibrant language of colour to evoke moods, convey messages, and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
In this exhibition we invite the audience to journey through a spectrum of artistic expressions that celebrate the richness and diversity of colour. The works on display span various mediums and styles, each offering a unique perspective of how colour can be used to tell stories, provoke thought, and ignite the imagination. Whether through the vibrant palettes of abstract art, the delicate tones of mythical figures, or the dramatic contrasts of modern compositions, you will witness how artists use colour as a tool of empowerment and expression.
On in the art’otel London Hoxton Gallery from 10th of October to 21st of October. Book a spot for the opening night on 10th October below.
ARTISTS
David Iain Brown
David Iain Brown is an artist living in Glasgow. Since completing his Master’s Degree in Fine Art at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen 2018, David has exhibited internationally. David’s approach to colour is instinctual; often choosing colours others might see as clashing. With a knack for blending colours into a unique balance or unexpected harmony, David is always looking at his surroundings and discovering unique combinations of colours.
Reinhard Agyekum
Reinhard Agyekum, born in 1993 in Kumasi, Ghana, is a versatile artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of colour. Now living in London, he has a BA in fine art from Central Saint Martins (2023). Reinhard’s work is a reflection of his fascination with colour perception and theory, serving as a means to dissect the individual and universal frameworks that surround colour within its rich sociocultural context.
Sophie Anne Wyth
Sophie Anne Wyth is a French Swiss artist who studied art and fashion in Paris. She works and lives in London. Sophie became a painter through undergoing art therapy and this initial approach brought playfulness and a sense of freedom to her practice. Sophie’s use of colour is paramount in her work; enhancing the strong sense of movement in each painting, creating speed or slowing down an area. By playing with tones and making the colours vibrate, she creates depth and allows the viewer to step inside the painting.
Aimilios Metaxas
Aimilios Metaxas, born in Athens, Greece in 1999, completed his Master’s degree in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London. Aimilios uses the colour gold in his work; a colour that throughout history was used to serve as the means for somebody to take on a journey to the realm of the divine and to seek answers which will lead to his salvation. In his practice, Aimilios searches for ways in which colour can be perceived, not as a supporting character, but rather as the main protagonist.
